Indian boy says: "Sir, First I sold him small
fishhook. Then I sold him medium fishhook.
Then I sold him large fishhook.
Then I sold him new fishing rod and some fishing gear.
Then I asked him where he was going fishing and he said
down on the coast, so I told him he'll be needing a
boat, so we went down to the boating department and I
sold him twin engine Chris Craft.
Then he said he didn't think his Honda Civic would
pull it, so I took him down to our automotive
department and sold him that 4X4 Blazer.
I then asked him where he'd be staying, and since he
had no accommodation, I took him to camping department and sold him one of those new igloo 6 sleeper camper tents.
Then the guy said, while we're at it, I should throw
in about $100 worth of groceries and two cases of
beer.
The boss said: "You're not serious? A guy came in here
to buy a fishhook and you sold him a boat, a 4X4 truck and a tent?"Indian boy says: "No Sirji, actually he came in to buy Anacin for his headache, and I said: Well, fishing is
the best way to relax your mind."

Wendy Doniger O'Flaherty (born November 20, 1940) is an American Indologist who has taught at the University of Chicago since 1978. She received a PhD from Harvard University in June 1968, with a dissertation on 'Asceticism and Sexuality in the Mythology of Siva'. Doniger holds the Mircea Eliade Distinguished Service Professor Chair in History of Religions at the Divinity school of University of Chicago. She considers herself an expert of Hinduism.
It is her book, ‘The Hindus: An Alternative History’ was published in 2009 by Viking/Penguin. According to the Hindustan Times, The Hindus was a No. 1 bestseller in its non-fiction category in the week of October 15, 2009.

DEFINITION OF A FRIEND

The word friend is a much used and abused word these days. Facebook seems to have altered it somewhat.

Dictionary definitions are:

1. A person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard.

2. A person who gives assistance; patron; supporter: friends of the Boston Symphony.

3. A person who is on good terms with another.

4. A member of the same nation, party, etc.

5. (Initial capital letter) a member of the Religious Society of Friends; a Quaker.

There is need now to include a 6th friendship based on social networks

Its translation = snehita (Sanskrit) snehitudu, snehituralu (Telugu)

The root word sneha denotes oiliness, greasiness and hence attachment or friendship through proximity. Even all the classmates or colleagues of an office are sahapaathi or sahodyogi, and that is it.

Facebook friends are often friends in a virtual world many times with a profile without true information and at times with true information also... Of course, it can be meeting old friends, classmates, and also knowing each other personally after FB friendship. That attachment may lead to friendship.

This English word ‘Friend’ opened many avenues to misuse SNEHITHA the English equivalent being FRIEND.

7. అ రాష్ట్రపు యువతి మన దేశములోని అన్య రాష్ట్ర వాసితో పెళ్లి చేసుకొంటే ఆమె పౌరసత్వము జమ్మూ కాశ్మీరులో నిషేధింపబడుతుంది. అదే పాకిస్తానీయునితో చేసుకొంటే ఆమె పౌరసత్వము నిలుచుటేగాక ఆమె వరునికి కాశ్మీరు పౌరసత్వము లభిస్తుంది .

భగవద్గీతా ప్రవేశము

ఎందఱో మహనీయులు, మహానుభావులు,మహాగురువులు భాష్యము వ్రాసిన భగవద్గీత తిరిగీ నేను విమర్శనాత్మకంగా తెలియబరచే అవసరము గానీ,శక్తి గానీ భగవంతుడు నాకు ఇవ్వలేదు. అయినా ఒక్క విషయము మాత్రము శ్రద్ధాళువులతో పంచుకోవాలనిపించి ఈ చిన్న ప్రయత్నము.

భారత యుద్ధ వార్తలను ధృతరాష్ట్రునకు చెప్పుటకై వేదవ్యాసులవారు సంజయునికి కురుక్షేత్ర సంగ్రామము వీక్షించగల దివ్య దృష్టి నొసంగి నియమించిరి.

ఈ గీతా ప్రవేశద్వారము వద్ద మొదట నిలిచినది ధృతరాష్ట్రుడు .
ధృతముఅంటే ధరింపబడిన అని అర్థము, రాష్ట్రుడు అంటే రాష్ట్రమును కలిగినవాడు అని అర్థము. అంటే చక్రవర్తి యని అర్థము. ఈ పేరుకు ఇంకొక అర్థమూ వుంది. ధృతమన్న మాటకు ఆనందము అని ఒక అర్థము. రాష్ట్రము అన్న మాటకు ఉత్పాతము అని ఒక అర్థము (బ్రౌణ్య నిఘంటువు). అంటే ఉత్పాతములయందు ఆనందమును పోడువాడు అని. చూచినారా పూర్వము పేరు పెట్టుటలోని సార్థకత. ఆలోచిస్తే భారత యుద్ధమునకు ఈ పేరే దారి తీయించిందేమో అనిపిస్తుంది.

ఇక రెండవ వాడు సంజయుడు. సత్+జయుడు సంజయుడౌతుందని అందరికీ తెలిసిన విషయమే. 'ఏకం సత్' అన్నది వేదం వాక్కు.అంటే ఆ సత్తే పరబ్రహ్మ. ఆ పరబ్రహ్మ ను జయించినవాడే సంజయుడు. 'ఏకం సత్' అన్నది వేదవాక్కు. అంటే' ఆసత్తే పరబ్రహ్మ. ఆ పరబ్రహ్మను జయించినవాడే సంజయుడు. అంటే వ్యాసుడు విష్ణువు యొక్క అంశయే కదా. సంజయుడు ఆయన అనుగ్రహము పొందుట అంటే ఆయనను జయించినట్లే కదా.

భారతము ఇతిహాసమని సోదాహరణముగా పండితులచేత నిరూపింప బడినది. ఇది ఇపుడు నిర్వివాదము. అప్పుడు ఇందులోని పాత్రల పేర్లు కథ కొరకు పెట్టినవి కావని ప్రత్యేకముగా చెప్పనవసరము లేదు. వారి పేర్లు వారి స్వభావమునకు ఎంత అతికినట్లు సరిపోతూ వుందో పైన దొరికిన రెండు మెతుకులు పట్టి చూస్తే తెలుస్తుంది.

కృష్ణుడు అర్జనునకు చేయు గీతోపదేశ మటుంచి ఆ ఉపదేశానికి ఉపోద్ఘాతమునకు , ఒక ఉత్పాతములయందు ఉత్సాహము కల్గినవాడు, ఎట్లు నాంది పలుకుచున్నాడో గమనించండి. భగవద్గీత ధృతరాష్ట్రుడు సంజయున్ని ప్రశ్నించిన ఈ శ్లోకముతో మొదలౌతుంది.

శ్లో.ధర్మ క్షేత్రే కురుక్షేత్రే సమవేతా యుయుత్సవః
మమకాః పాణ్డవాశ్చైవ కిమ కురవత సంజయ

ఈ శ్లోకాన్ని బాహ్యంగా గమనిస్తే

సంజయా! యుద్ధము చేయ నిచ్చగించినవారై ధర్మక్షేత్రమైన కురుక్షేత్రమున కూడిన నావారును పాండవులును ఏమి చేసిరి?

ఇందులో ఒక అంతరార్థము వున్నది. అదేమిటంటే యుద్ధము చేయ నిచ్చాగించినవారు, యుద్ధము చేయుట సహజమే అయినా, చేయనిర్నైన్చుకొన్న ప్రదేశము ధర్మక్షేత్రమైన కురుక్షేత్రము. వామన పురాణములో ఈ విధంగా చెప్పబడింది.కురు మహారాజు తన సామ్రాజ్యమునకు సరియగు రాజధానిని సమకూర్చుకొన సంకల్పించి ఎన్నో ప్రాంతములను వేదికి ఈ ప్రాంతమునకు వచ్చి ఈ ప్రాంతపు ప్రత్యేకతలను ఈ క్రింది విధముగా తెలుసు కొన్నాడు.

ఈ ప్రాంతము,బ్రహ్మ ఎన్నో వేల సంవత్సరములు తపమాచ్రించుతవలన బ్రహ్మ వేడిగానూ,సరస్వతీ నది ఉత్తరవాహినియై ప్రవహిన్చుతవలన ఉత్తరవేదిగానూ, సరస్వతీ యమునా నదుల సంగమము దృష్టావతి గా ఇక్కడ పిలువబడేది. ఈ ప్రాంతము సప్త గుణ సంపన్నమైనదని ఇచ్చట నగరము నేర్పరచ తన అనుచర గణమునకు నిర్దేశించినాడు.ఈ సప్త గునములేమిటివన:1.తపస్సు 2.సత్యము 3.క్షమ 4.దయ 5.శుచి 6.దానము 7. బ్రహ్మచర్యము. ఈ ప్రాంతమును రాజధానిగా ఎన్నుకొన్న తన పరమ భక్తుడైన కురు మహారాజుకు శ్రీ మహావిష్ణువు రెండు వరాలను ప్రసాదించినాడు . 1.ఆ ప్రదేశమికపై కురుక్షేత్రముగా పిలువబడుతుందని
2.అక్కడ మరణించిన వారు స్వర్గవాసులౌతారని.

ఋషులు అనేకక్రతువులను నిర్వహించుట వలనను,వేదవ్యాసులవారు వేదములను ఋగ్ యజుస్ సామ అధర్వణములుగా విభజించుట వల్లను ఈ ప్రదేశమునకు ధర్మక్షేత్రమనే పేరు కూడా స్థిరపడినది. అందువల్లనే ధృతరాష్ట్రుడు 'ధర్మక్షేత్రే' 'కురుక్షేత్రే' వాడినాడని చెప్పవచ్చును.

ఇందులో ఒక గూఢార్థము కూడా ద్యోతకమగుచున్నది. 'క్షి' యనగా నాశము (చెడు కర్మలు చేయుటవల్ల )
'త్ర' అనగా రక్షణ (పుణ్య కార్యములు చేయుటవల్ల) 'కురు' చేయుటవల్ల కలిగించేది.ఆ క్షేత్రము వేరే కాదు ఈ శరీరమే. అందువల్ల ఈ శరీరమే కురుక్షేత్రమయ్యింది.
మమకారము తనవారిపైన చంపుకోలేని ధృతరాష్ట్రుడు అందుకే 'మామకాః' అని వాడియుంటాడు. ఇక 'పాండవాః'
అని కూడా ఆయన వాడుతాడు. 'పాండువు' అంటే తెలుపు స్వచ్చత అని అర్థం. పాండురాజు రక్త హీనత వల్ల పాలిపోయిన శరీరుడై (బొల్లి - తెల్లదనము వల్ల) పాండురాజైనాడు. ఇక పాండు కు 'స్వచ్చత' అన్న అర్థము ఉండుటవల్ల సత్వ గుణ సంపన్నులైన పాండవులు ధర్మ పరులైనందువల్ల ఆమాట ఆయనచే వాడబదినదేమో.
కావునకురుక్షేత్ర సంగ్రామ ఉపోద్ఘాతములోనే చెడ్డ పై మంచి గెలుస్తుందని చెడ్డని పుట్టించిన వ్యక్తి(తండ్రి) యే
చెప్పినాడంటే భారత కాలములో వైయక్తిక జీవన విదానమేట్లున్నది మనము అర్థము చేసుకోన వచ్చును.
ఈ శరీరిభూమిపై ఉన్నంత కాలము ఈ మంచిచెడుల అంతర్మథానము కొనసాగుతూనే వుంటుంది.

కావున ఈ వివరణను సంగ్రహించితే, ఈ 'శ్లోకము', కురుక్షేత్రమగు ఈ శరీరముతో సత్కర్మల నాచరించి దానిని ధర్మ క్షేత్రమొనరించి రజస్తమోగుణములపై సత్వము జయము సాధించవలయునని తెల్పుచున్నదని నా భావము .

స్వస్తి ప్రజాభ్యాం పరిపాలయంతాం న్యాయేన మార్గేన మహీం మహీశాం
గోబ్రాహ్మణేభ్యః శుభమస్తు నిత్యం లోకాః సమస్తా స్సుఖినోభవంతు
